Confront is an outpatient treatment facility created in 1969 with a primary focus to provide outpatient treatment for those suffering from the effects of drug and alcohol addiction. Philosophy and Concepts The philosophy at Confront incorporates concepts and values congruent with the philosophy of Therapeutic Communities (TC) and therefore is an ideal setting to provide continuity of care for individuals referred to Confront from residential treatment. Parenting Institute
The Parenting Institute involves 3 components: A restorative parenting group for parents who are back in their children's lives after a period of separation (i.e. physical and/or emotional as with an addiction); A families in rhythm program that utilizes a specific curriculum to model and imbue parents with core skills necessary to be nurturing parents and teachers with an eye on building self-esteem; A fathering group that helps fathers understand their primary roles and develop knowledge and skills to effectively participate in successful health and education for their children. These groups run in several 8 week cycles and families may participate in one, two, or all three groups. The intended impact is family health that translates into a feeling of connection for children to family, community and success in school. Additional Services: Assessments for DUI offenders Group Therapy and Individual Counseling Protective Parenting for Non-Offending Parents Physical and Sexual Abuse Treatment Cooperation with Criminal Justice agencies Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction classes Yoga and Qi Gong classes On-site psychiatric services Play therapy for ages 3+
 | | Admission Criteria
Referrals may be arranged individually or through a variety of human service and criminal justice organizations. Exclusion Criteria CONFRONT cannot provide services to those who are actively psychotic, or who have a history of arson, rape, significant violence separate from drug or alcohol use, or sexual impulsivity. Clients may not have extra-ordinary medical conditions that preclude treatment. Referrals must have an I.Q. of 75 or over. Referrals must have resolved any open criminal charges before admission. |
Speaker's Bureau CONFRONT maintains a speakers bureau that has conducted hundreds of speaking engagements to thousands of people throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. Topics that are covered include drug and alcohol treatment, treatment for sexual abuse, victims of domestic violence and a host of other subject matter relevant to the counseling and addiction field.
